Tub Tunes is a line of musical toy instruments that used water as a method of tuning and playing during bath time. Each instrument included easy to follow, water-proof music sheets. Tub Tunes was granted design and utility patents. The Water Flutes was awarded Parent’s Magazine’s one of “The Best Toys of the Year” for 2004. The brand was acquired by Alex Toys who still manufactures and sell Tub Tunes today.

Water Flutes are a set of 5 real flutes that use water to tune. To play, pick a song, fill the flutes with water using the special filling valve, then insert each flute into the foam holder. Follow the color coordinated music sheet to play the song or experiment how volume effects sound..

Water Drums were drum-sets designed to be played in the bathtub and use water to tune. Tilt and submerge one end of the drum under water. Release the water drum and notice it will float at a lower level to be played at a higher pitch. Can also double as a wash bucket. The set includes a pair of Drums and Drum sticks and waterproof rhythm charts.
Water Xylophone was the next addtion to the successful Tub Tunes line. Although it did not use water to tune, it was designed to maximize the fun leveraging other characteristics. The foam base enabled the Water Xylophone to float on the water surface and stick to the walls using surface tension. It also had rearragable keys for added play and experimentation.
Water Trumpet was designed a higher price point addition to the Tub Tunes line. Using the water-fill tuning system, an intricate valve mechanism was developed to enable each note independantly from a single air source. With the addition of the Water Trumpet, the Tub Tunes quartet was complete.
Tub Tunes were sold to ALEX Toys in 2006, who still continues to manufacture and sell this line in domestic and international retailers.
